Even when the judge does violence to a child previously he is nice to it before. I always took this in the theme of him cataloguing things like the scraps of conquistador armor he destroys in the fire.
The child he cares for and plays with who he then violates.
The band of mercenaries he inspired into ruin.
The judge seems to take things across the full spectrum of experience.

I remember the judge has a midnight scene where he is naked with the fool and he saves the fool from drowning. The book uses the word "ritual" as he gathers the fool in his arms, embracing him. The fool is totally under his control and he had a fondness for him like a son.
Later we see the word ritual used heavily in the last chapter and it's tied to dancing and blood.


When the judge visits the kid in jail he says "only each was called upon to empty out his heart into the common and one did not. Can you tell me who that one was?"
He also says he cared about the kid like a son. And tells the kid to come closer so he can touch him.


Later as an adult they meet and they have this exchange
"If it is so that they themselves have no reason and yet are indeed here must they not be here by reason of some other? And if so can you guess who that other might be? No. Can you? I know him well"

Then later they are talking about the dance and it being a warriors right, but that war is being degraded. They have this exchange "there will be one there always who is a true dancer and can you guess who that might be? You ain't nothin. You speak truer than you know. But I will tell you.only that man who has offered up himself entire to the blood of war, who has been to the floor of the pit and seen horror in the round and learned at last that it speaks to his inmost heart, only that man can dance"

After the kid sees the whore the book describes the dancers starting up and instruments playing.
The kid opens the Jakes which are traditionally very small outhouse like, not much room. He is naked already sitting on the toilet and hugs the boy. Latches the door behind them.

Whatever they do it's quick and clean enough that the judge can throw his clothes on and start dancing by the time someone comes across the body.

Biggest points are the judge seems to resent the kid for never giving into the course or reasons to be here that the judge lays out for him. The judge also seems to have some kind sentiment for the kid spending a lot of time and dialogue.
I read this all as the judge trying to mold the kid into his own image, like a son. But it never happens and the kid resists.
I think the judge crushes him in a final embracing when he is certain he won't have his way.
The kid never let himself "descend" and become a "true dancer".

I just don't see how buttfucking him fits at all.
