What’s the matter with you? One of the easiest gaylic words. Spend a little time on the Shetland isles sometime. Stop thinking about transients all the time.

Unlike the London journals these are unfortunately edited and sanitized, however they're still very enjoyable.

Don't need a new edition, there's plenty of older versions out there that you can buy for pennies. As for the books themselves, the first is Johnson's travelogue, it's about the North of Scotland. The second is Boswell's journal of the trip, which is mainly about Johnson.

Boswell & Johnson at Edinburgh University:
>I pointed out to him where there formerly stood an old wall enclosing part of the college, which I remember bulged out in a threatening manner, and of which there was a common tradition similar to that concerning Bacon's study at Oxford, that it would fall upon some very learned man. It had some time before this been taken down, that the street might be widened, and a more convenient wall built. Dr Johnson, glad of an opportunity to have a pleasant hit at Scottish learning, said, 'they have been afraid it never would fall'.

>> No.18404147

what's it from then?
>The name "Hebrides" is a misunderstanding of the classical Latin name "Hebudes", where "u" was misread "ri". The classical Latin forms "Hebudes" or "Hæbudes" were used by various Roman writers including Solinus. In Ancient Greek the archipelago was called "Αἱβοῦδαι = Haiboudai" by Ptolemy.
