This shit is really useful if, like me, you emerged from your formative years a complete fucking retard who lacks all types of common knowledge.

Anki for learning languages

>> No.18392909

I have the software installed, got some flashcards on it but... too lazy to add new cards or to do the exercice man.

>Lets compare

I have a total of ~4000 cards in it. Languages:
>english
>german
>ancient greek
>latin
>french
>chink

Yeah it's pretty boring. 90% of my cards take no more effort than copying and pasting a text or image and using cloze all over them, I can't actually bring myself to write shit.

>> No.18392946

Anki is great. But also read a book on memorization techniques to supplement using it. You'll be on your way to memorizing and learning useless facts at neck breaking speeds. When the pandemic started I decided to memorize every countries location, flag, and capital on planet earth it took 2-3 weeks.

you have to be american, because that effort should be done within a few days if you have some preliminary education.

Just my Italian is getting to around 5K and that's not inducing conjugation which is handled separately. And not including the more obvious stuff that's similar to English or French.

in 8th grade geography class our exams were just blank maps of continents
we had to draw all of the borders, mark where the capital cities were, and draw all of the notable rivers
i'm not trying to brag or defend the other anon or anything, just pointing out how pointless and autistic education can be in some countries

No. Even 2-3 weeks is not long enough for real long term memory to form. If you don't recall them from time to time you will forget a good chunk of them in a few months. That's what spaced repetition is for.

Primarily use it for Japanese. Western languages lack kanji and are much easier to remember, so I mostly don't feel the need to use Anki for them.

You must be European from the way you're acting like you have all the answers when you're really just cucked. There about 200 countries. 200+ capitals. 200+ flags. Plus geography of oceans and seas. If you really think you can memorize 600+ facts in 2 days you just prove how dumb you really are.

You really must be american, because you are unironically admitting that you need to leanr All these facts for the very first time.

I use(d) it for French, but it kinda got boring because I don't practically use French.
What do you recommend? I don't usually watch movies or shows so it'd feel like a chore.

>> No.18397535

its OK I guess. Flashcards are helpful from time to time but you really need to learn grammar if you want to unlock a language. Vocab will fill in.

It's the other way around. Learn words, especially in context/small sentences, and you will be able to communicate in no time. You can't do shit with grammar alone, maybe with the exception of Latin.
