I enjoy his style very much. I read him in French though, so I won't be able to say much about the translations. I find him very comfy and easy to read.

Serotonin sucked, it felt like a repeat of his past work, but overall he's one of the most novel authors of our time and probably one of the few who can show us a picture of the reality we are living in (and the one we are going towards)

Actually, last week I have seen a man identical to him in my city, which made me think a bit about him and realized that he really isn't that talked about on here as he was a few years back. It wasn't him btw, but incredible resemblence.

And for writing - you read one and you've read them all. Shock value for normies.
Submission sticks out a bit, but even that is just bitter sex stuff.

If you're 15 he'll do for your personal Nietzsche until you grow up.

I've read Plateforme that is quite effective (and was terribly prophetic at the time).
Reading La Carte et le Territoire, that has a lot more humour and irony (like Houellebecq being a character of the novel but neither the "hero" Jed Martin nor the narrator).

Map & Territory is my favorite work from him. How the policeman still follows these old ideals like a good citizen while the world only gives a fuck about money.

I said slowly because the younger generation is in rebellion against Islamic conservatism and will likely be assimilated into the organisation and identity of the secular neoliberal European Union. I believe this because not too long ago the leading opposition in Turkey managed to get over 300,000 views on Twitch which obviously reflects the more liberal views of younger Turks.

I mean even with Erdogan elected the 'march of progress' continues with seemingly no delay, at most, you can expect Erdogan to impede or stagnate the march but once he is gone it will continue onwards. There will never be any reversion, only delay.

Submission is honestly his worst book. Don't get me wrong, I hate the towelheads but it fell flat to me. The fiction politics is very stale and the protagonist is too much of a retard. The only interesting thing is the description of academia bending over to muslims.
Elementary particules, platform, possibility of an island and carte and territory are the good ones.
