Back in high school I picked up The Stand by Stephen King specifically because it was his largest book. Turned out to be one of the greatest novels I’ve ever read (I don’t read a lot)

Bleak House. Not the worst thing, but godddddd damn is it unnecessarily long. To be more accurate, it's really the fact that it's just super long *and* a satire -- if it were more dramatic, it'd be palatable. But it's so hard to get through a book where hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of pages all effectively say "hahaha isn't the court of equity so messed up, and isn't it crazy how far-reaching its effects are!?!?!? hahaha so wacky! and sometime sad! Haha!"
