Count the hours, those fickle things, and take notice of how your days are spent. Us young men are blessed with potential, the old coziers are right to say as much. However we are cursed just as much by our wandering temperament, dancing about a litany of pursuits. Glory to that young man who can reign his passions, glory to him now and forever! See now, dearest, the wonderousness of focus and temperance. Yet, despair, despair at the daunting prospect that even determination is pursued by a plague. Her name, that which i shudder to utter, is obsession. Yes! Name and shame her my friend! Obsession and insolence are two sides of a dastardly condition of wasted hours, days and weeks which yield only regret as the cows come calling home. This is the ailment I fret is manifesting within you. To write, and being able to do so, is a divine gift. Your aptitude for the word is both admirable and enviable. And yet, my most prized companion, please suffer not the temptation of immersing oneself wholly in one's craft. It shall be your ruin. Grasp the hoe, haul the earth, and find the pleasure in rendering from the bosom of our apathetic mother the fruits of her bosom. It shall serve you, not just as sustenance, but also as an anchor for your psyche, chaining you not to the filth but to yourself. I love you.
