Your perception of yourself and of "reality" deceives you. It is only through a radical break that one finds true enlightenment of the ultimate reality. Through this process one must dissolve conventional, mechanistic thinking. That is what keeps you from binding yourself to the highest. That being said there is no real "detachment" from nature or from the self. All is one, one is nothing, and one is never less than two. The ultimate reality is everywhere and just beyond your reach, anon. If you are serious than emerse yourself in nature and follow the path. I wish you luck though as it's the hardest journey you'll ever take.
