Whatever the most disturbing and dark one is... I have no idea which one that might be, Marquis de Sade maybe?

I only read a couple of them
American Psycho (loved it)
and Naked Lunch - This one is... hard. I'm not usually someone who re-reads books, but this is definitely not one I'm going to read again. Just too much. Are you familiar with "Requiem for a Dream" ? For me it's the same feeling, masterwork, but I won't be able to watch it again.
Btw, "Naked Lunch" movie is impressive in how well they managed to convey the book (of course not the entirety of it) on screen.

Haunted - Palahniuk, didn't read it, but I used to like Palahniuk.

Petrolio - PPP. I have a couple books from him (original language) they never really "got" me. I probably have to try again.

120 days of Sodom. Abovementioned PPP made a movie about it, but revisited to be set in North Italy during Italian Social Republic. Movie is great but (see above what I said about Requiem for a Dream). -- From De Sade, I started reading "Boudoir Philosophy" years ago, I had to stop every two pages because I either had to jerk off, or too disgusted.

Crash - JG Ballard. Bought it a long time ago, started reading it at least 4 times, always stopped after three pages or so, literally no idea what he's talking about.

American Psycho and Blood Meridien are both great, modern classics. Skip naked lunch. Hubert Shelby Jr is excellent but haven't read the room
