The uselessness of all art makes it the most useful thing.

They kinda get it but in a fucked up way. Lots of art today is "all style, no substance".
Like, bare aesthetics without any meaning. Or more correct would be to say that only the idea of aesthetics is here. All that postmodern shit.
There is almost no communication through art and of course, nobody thinks about achieving transcendent knowledge with it.
Art just sells and that's good enough for the masses.

>> No.18322689

>>18322681
why would art need to be "substantial", "meaningful", "communicative", "seeking transcendent knowledge" if philosophy and other forms of culture do it better? Art has its own area - creation of affects, percepts. It should not be concerned with moralizing or truth. If you want morals, go to church. If you want the truth, read a philosophy book.

Do you really believe that postmodern art is "bare aesthetics?" So much of it is highly conceptual, to an almost laughable degree

you didn't answer my question. Differentiation of areas of life is the goal. Not unification. First is fully aristocratic and stems from the pathos of distance. The second movement is the result of immature culture. Western civillization became what it is today due to differentiation, whereas Asia and other continents were always intermixing their spheres of life. There were no "philosophy" or "art" in Asia. It was a conglomeration of morality, thinking, religion etc. Crying about art not being a hecking wholesome chunkerinos homily is the mark of a pseud and a pleb.
