I'm going to medical school next year and I want to know who /lit/'s favorite writers are who were also physicians

No one cares, brainlet. You’re going to be surrounded by the most braindead, boring, and insipid people imaginable — mostly women who can’t think nor offer insight besides “let’s get wine drunk and watch the office.”

It’s the fault of mass production. There hasn’t been an earth shattering piece of real art since Wagner’s ring cycle. Good art hasn’t existed since 1890-ish with the onset of mass production. Skill, forms, talent, soul - all of it reduced to nothing but matter with the prospect of infinite copies for mass consumption by the democratic public. Art will only improve when we start enforcing strict barriers between the public and artists.

Plenty of great writers where more than just writers, plenty where teachers, mathematicians, soldiers, etc.

I like nurses most of time. Sometimes they can be a bit "simple" but they tend to be more down to earth and you can have some decent conversations and good times with them. Doctors can often be very self-important and treat people like shit to remind everyone of how "important " they are
>>18318358
I enjoy medicine but I have a lot of interests outside of medicine as well. I always liked the Chekhov quote, "medicine is my lawful wife and literature my mistress; when I get tired of one, I spend the night with the other."

too early to say, just started this semester

It's mostly about your personality being compatible with the job I think, I don"t hate medicine completely (but there's a lot of corruption regarding drugs for chronic coniditons, statins are a scam eg) and sometimes think that I should have finished it, mostly I don't though

I have a pretty high IQ and I'm lazy, so for me engineering requires less work, medicine is conceptually easier but it's more work bc IQ can't give me shortcuts as much, you just have to know a lot of shit (which is true also in engineering but considerably less so imo)
