I don't read at home unless it's too late to go out. I prefer cafés and libraries. I like being around other people, even if I'm not interacting with them or anything. Reading at home is too depressing.

This is honestly the best idea ITT because it's very achievable. You want to maximize the vertical space in a personal library, because it's the most efficient way to store small physical objects like books without obstructing the rest of the room with shelves. A loft style apartment does this. The obvious downside is that it's hard to access the higher shelves. Also this only really works if you are an incel or a fag or an eternal bachelor, because otherwise you will probably be forced to aim for a larger family home. The point remains that maximizing vertical storage space is optimal for a library, so a house with high ceilings or suitable wall space is also a good canvas for a personal library. Alternatively, you can go for more of a small cosy study vibe.

If I could have anything, I'd want some sort of modernist brutalist library in the style of the elementary school I went to. With fun geometry and courtyards including greenery and rock gardens.

Hi, that's actually not brutalism, quite the opposite, the books are series of art books maybe magazines because it's the studio of Tadao Ando, so all of them are design related. The thing is he is super critical of modern soulless architecture, take a look at what he does: https://youtu.be/NDwcrzlLcWE

It's okay but not exactly what I'm thinking of and something about it bothers and overstimulates me - I think it's all the different textures on the surfaces and furniture.

Playful and geometrically complex spaces are possible with concrete and bricks, and you can see this in some late modern buildings. Some places are just designed so that they tickle your imagination about possibilities and make your entire background feeling a cloud of excitement and joy and peace. I'd want a library that does that.
