>The Russian lands continued in their historic function as a source of slaves for outsiders. For example, in 1382 the Golden Horde under Khan Tokhtamysh sacked Moscow, burning the city and carrying off thousands of inhabitants as slaves; similar raids occurred routinely until well into the 16th century. In 1521, the combined forces of Crimean Khan Mehmed I Giray and his Kazan allies attacked Moscow and captured thousands of slaves. In 1571, the Crimean Tatars attacked and sacked Moscow, burning everything but the Kremlin and taking thousands of captives as slaves. In Crimea, about 75% of the population consisted of slaves. The Crimean–Nogai raids into East Slavic lands continued into the 18th century.
>Slavery remained a major institution in Russia until 1723, when Peter the Great converted the household slaves into house serfs.
>Only the Russian state and Russian noblemen had the legal right to own serfs, but in practice commercial firms sold Russian serfs as slaves – not only within Russia but even abroad (especially into Persia and the Ottoman Empire) as "students or servants".
>By the mid-19th century, peasants composed a majority of the population, and according to the census of 1857, the number of private serfs was 23.1 million out of 62.5 million Russians, 37.7% of the population.

Politics is how you deal with public stuff, that is, what is shared amongst all of us, in short, society. You can't escape it, if you don't engage in it, someone will and will make the decisions for you.

What people mean when they complain everything is about politics is not really politics itself, but the fact that people are often fanatic and everyone thinks they have the right opinion with no room for discussion, they are very vocal about what they think and uninterested in frank debates. When you can't debate, when no one seems to have ears for you, you feel like shouting. The volume cranks up indefinitely.

"How come those other guys can be so stupid?" is a common feeling from all sides. When people say "the left is like this", "the right is like that" or "oh that's very typical from the likes of you", they don't really mean what they think they mean. They are just confused about the variety of people and opinions and cultures that emerged to their attention with the rise of the internet. To digest this inhuman ammount of information they resort to creating an umbrella to all they don't like, or in other words, they generalize and discriminate, quite often highlighting the worst possible takes from the other side and summing it all up as that.

To get away from that without becoming a brainless alienated person, just keep on reading and only put your opinion out there when you know there is a chance of honest debate, with close friends or about things you know with your heart. Don't take the banter personally and wait, because in 10 or so years all of this eruption of stupidity will lose steam. Read stuff you disagree, observe, take your mental notes and don't be surprised at the stupidity of others, the importance of that is artificially inflated. People are better than this, they just can't admit it just yet because it breaks their theories.

You mean statecraft. Nobody likes that shit but those that work in it and make loads of money.
Or do you really mean you don’t want an opinion on anything at all anymore? You’ve given up to the state and wish to be a completely blank slate slave?
Some cultish religious nonsense is what you want of course.

Oh sweet nihilism, if only the foolish philosopher didn't assume everyone was on his level.

The problem with nihilism is that a textbook reading of it SEEMS edgy because it is in fact, the edgiest of all living styles.

Did I say Edgy? I meant Based.

Regardless, I always felt like philosophers are the true religion, so anti-religion, yet so succumb to that poison that it is in all fact meaningless. They hold onto a small, preserved vial of unattainable nothingness and choose there as the starting point of self.

That's why I kinda like Stirner.

Hegel I get, doing his life work to philosophy, only to have jackass Stirner over here get famous over a valid critique.

Is it more noble to live for nothing and criticize those who do something, or more valuable for one to live for something and criticize those who nothing?
