are there any books that are actually detrimental to your life if you read them?

>> No.18220839

Should I actually read this? I'm already reading two books and I opened the first few pages to cathr and so far all it is is boo hoo wah wah wah in order to understand my point you must be willing to let go of logic thanks
Does it actually get good? "It offers new points" isn't a reason for continuing. Pessimists literally have infinity facts and reasons for why life sucks but I'm not going to listen to any of them if they keep up their little antics.

To put this into few words, the book comes off as if you must already be a pessimist in order to gain anything from reading it. Will I gain anything/have my perspective changed if I'm something else?

Just read it

The main reason I haven't this book is cause it seems like, if my understanding of what it is is correct, I would just be nodding in agreement the whole time without gaining anything actually helpful from it. I think for nothing else than bookkeeping sake and recording of human perspective someone had to write this book eventually, i'm glad it wasn't me though.

Trust me, you will find new and interesting perspectives, facts, literary criticism, anecdotes and so on in the book. Try it out. It's a good read despite what Ligotti's bad faith critics on here like to claim.

this book makes fun of your type quite a lot. don't read it if you're that sensitive, otherwise you'll just attribute to ruining discourse on /lit/ with another stupid thread saying essentially nothing, like 90% of people on this board who have allegedly read it.
