Why do musicians and painters get laid more than writers?

>Painters get laid more than writers

LOL!

>> No.1821966

Musicians because it's generally a more sociable skill - you perform in front of/with other people, where writing is generally a lot more reclusive. It also tends to show a sense of rhythm which is helpful for, well...

I think you've made up the painter thing.

>> No.1821971

Because music and painting take skill. Writing is all luck. You put a story together and it either clicks or it doesn't.

Painters paint nude chicks, so they're one step ahead.

They usually get paid for that.

Prostitutes allow anyone to get laid.

>> No.1822107

It depends on what type of musician they are. I don't imagine marching band guys getting much action.

I have to guess that from the levels of eroticism in his stories Murakami gets laid all the time.

Most girls (and people in general) have narcissistic tendencies and they enjoy the thought of being closely observed by a painter for hours, who will in turn make something beautiful out of it.

Alternatively, or perhaps cumulatively, a lot of girls have subordinate tendencies, so they want to 'serve' someone in order to feel good. One of the nicest, yet hardest, ways of serving someone, is being a model and a muse to a painter.

Not necessarily. It's widely known that Robert Crumb's Fritz the Cat is so sexually explicit, only because Crumb was a shut-in virgin while his peers were partying and getting laid all the time, so he created Fritz as a sort of social and sexual relief.

Darling, you have lovely features, may I use you as my model for this painting? :3

My dear, your voice is heavenly, might I borrow it for a song?

Bitch I am writing, hold on a minute. Yes, it's for you. Will you have sex with me when you finish reading it? Of course the whole thing! Christ, it's just 170 pages, I'm not asking you to let blood or anything.

this pretty much

musicians get laid far more, though there must be more to it than just the 'sociable' thing

i guess writing shows off intelligence, self-control etc. while music usually shows off things far more indicative of virility

Because you can observe the work of a musician or a painter in a few minutes and then decide you want to fuck them, whereas it takes hours to read a book.

Poets also get laid more than novelists for the same reason

that's because poems are short and usually about feelings, which women like even if they don't necessarily 'get it'

a good writer requires long hours of isolation, detachment, or in some cases excessive introspection and general mental derangement to produce lasting fiction

these lifestyle habits are not conducive to getting laid, and chances are if you're the type of person who needs to sit and read books all day and then get involved in the production end of literature then your priorities likely do not include sex or perhaps even developing social skills

this doesn't apply to all writers but i sensed strongly enough of a trend or pattern line to make a post about it
