I think that what happens here is that there are more women than men reading books but most of those women read only YA novels or fantasy, whenever they try to read a more "serious" book they get inevitably filtered; so it would be like
>10000 women likes reading
>5000 men likes reading
>6000 of those women only read YA fiction
And these give us the impression that women are retarded. Plus, filtered people are the most eager to write stupid reviews.

You know what though, the reviewer is right, but if give it a 5/5.

How to Read a Book is boring, it's extremely long, it's too complex for someone that is truly beginning their /lit/ journey, and it's narratives uninteresting. But I still think it is extremely important and should be mandatory for everyone to read. His guide on how to read philosophy, judge a book, and on the importance of understanding the author, is absolutely necessary. And it's a shame not more people follow his rules.

Reading this thread it's easy to hate on w*m*n, but you have to bear in mind that a) Goodreads is mostly women and b) it will tend to be women who hate books which /lit/ likes.

One thing I noticed: the male reviews I did find were all extra-loathsome because they were so feminized. Catty and vapid & moralfaggy in the worst way. I haven't yet found a really rollicking, enjoyable denunciation. (The sort of thing Captain Ahab might have come up with.) There must be one.
