Who are current writers and thinkers who are actually fresh and interesting and don't care about political correctness? They don't have to be edgy, just stuff to read that's original and not just regurgitating the Zeitgeist

I'm putting together an anthology of dissident flash fiction (previously ran the Gifts Evil and Good and Rags and Bones anthologies). Is anyone interested in contributing? I'm looking for stories or vignettes that sharply envision the corruption, pain, and terror that awaits down our current path (5-100 years), but also a vision of correction, and of what a proper, sustainable society might look like (and how it was achieved).

An indie publisher is very interested in publishing this anthology (I don't work for them, just want to make the anthology and give it as much reach as possible). The only obstacle is finding enough interested writers.

This is a tactic used by most. It can be used to get people emotional.

zizek is okay, but he doesnt really say anything new, just repackages whatever you think cynically in more complex terms
agamben is too politically correct, muh jews my holocaust, has a nice style and his bios zoe distinction is interesting
sloterdijk is based 2/10 of the times, the vast majority of his work is just him masturbating on the pages, reading one page of Nietzsche is more substance than reading his 400 book
Byung-Chul Han if old boomer moralism had its own philosopher it would be Byung. Touches interesting problems, but poor conceptual grasp of them makes it watered down.

Your suggestions then? Also, Sloterdijk's work is by someone who loves the history of human thought, so he'll just ruminates a lot. I think his ideas, though few, are actually valuable and honestly I loved reading him.

What glows about a speculative flash fiction anthology? It's basically science fiction from a dissident perspective. Authors don't have to give personal information. And, as I said, I previously organized two anthologies on /lit/.

i think this is the kind of politicaly relevant direction that ppl like OP (and I) want to get away from. the value in sci fi for me comes from the aesthetic potential of exploring the unknown, not commentary on the state and future of society. and while theres overlap, i dont like where your project is headed. but id gladly contribute something cuz flash fiction is fun

>> No.18221292

>>18221187
I don't see it as overtly political. The dissident aspect is daring to write something politically incorrect, filling a massive void in speculative fiction. Based on current trends, what could Canada or South Africa look like in 20 years? Or what could happen to disrupt those trends? Stories set in plausible near-future settings are very compelling. Submission by Houellebecq is a great example of this type of speculative fiction.
