How do I get the best out of the human comedy by reading not much more than a dozen or so books?

>> No.18198480

>>18198465
i'm pretty sure his bibliography page on wikipedia has his work divided by different sections of the comedy. so pick the more notable works from each section. fwiw i've just sort of read the ones i've happened to come across at bookstores and they've all been great. eugene grandet was the only i thought was meh

When I was 22 I read the biography by Stefan Zweig after finding it in a university library book sale for 25c. One of the most pleasant lit experiences I’ve ever had. After 13 years I still think about some of the passages in that book from time to time. Many here would relate to Balzacs’s personality, his struggles, what he was trying to achieve, the complex relationship with his own family, and his tragic experiences with women. I’ve only read one of his novels (Seraphita) and am not particularly Interested in reading more, but I love the man himself.
