What should i read before pic related?
I've read some Plato but i don't think that will help me with Homer.

Not a book but the 10 first episodes of the Trojan War Podcast are about the events that led up to what Homer covers in the Iliad.

I used to listen to an episode every time I went out for a run or walk, and since the episodes are about 1-1,5 h long I found them to be appropriate.

Really glad that I listened to it because I found it to help me get several references when I took on the Iliad.

Why are these threads still here? Isn't books like these one of the first classics you read, since it's ya know, one of the foundations of western civilization? I'd have thought that people who have been on /lit/ for this long should have all this basic stuff already read, unless you're a newfag of course.

you literally don't need to read anything. you should already know some greek mythology and all the gods from secondary school. that's enough.
