What are the best "Armchair Learning" books? Sometimes I just like to read something short and interesting while taking a shit, before going to bed, while in the car, etc.

Anything by Malcolm Gladwell. My favorite is Outliers, though What The Dog Saw, The Tipping Point, and Blink are all very good.

Freakonomics and SuperFreakonomics fall in a similar vein as Gladwell and are similarly excellent.

That pic is fucking related when it comes to Bill Bryson. Get more Bryson if you haven't already.

Off the Map: Tales of Endurance and Exploration

Accounts of explorers and lots of info about their personal failures. Very interesting if you like history. Well written.

Interesting thread. This is my contribution:
Peter Maass - Crude World: The Violent Twilight of Oil
Joshua Foer - Moonwalking with Einstein: The Art and Science of Remembering Everything

Both books are pageturners and very interesting.
