He is very distinctly esoteric, anti-modern, and anti-popular, how could it be any other way?

I was about to go full reee because you think Evola is obscure. But you’re right, the fact that I think he’s Jordan Peterson tier popularity is due to spending too much time on here. For lit
, obscure is something along the lines of Anton Long, sinister and anonymous.

I’ve read about half of Revolt, and I just... like what the fuck does someone do with this information? It’s interesting to learn about what ancients believed and practiced, but it’s not really practical to learn.

You understand how far off the mark modern man is. But really Revolt is the basis for all his other writings, if you want something more "applicable" read Men Among the Ruins.

I have his Revolt Against the Modern World here. I think there could be some worthy things there but I am simply disgusted by his narrow mentality concerning the truth, yes, Christianity is the truth and I am not even open to discuss it here. Does he at least provide a good case against modern skepticism, for example?

Presumably because you haven't looked anywhere else. Most mentions of Evola that I have seen have been on Twitter. There is also plenty of content about him on YouTube and other video platforms. There are even a couple of small subreddits where you can occasionally see him discussed. I have seen Evola get mentioned on every platform I have used. He's probably even more prominent on other platforms like Telegram, VK, etc. AFAIK he's pretty popular with fringe Russian political activists.

Why read some 20th century weirdo who dabbled in dadaism when you can read the actual writings of the ancients? It's much more efficient to understand how things have changed in the past 2500 years, and the ancients are more enjoyable and better writers to boot.

You read his wikipedia page didn't you? Evola himself explains his history with dada quite well.
He explains the underlying structures of the world view of the ancients very well. Reading the works of the ancients with a modern mindset will not make you understand them and leads to memes such as "the Greeks were all gay!"
No one is forcing you to read him by the way.

The only things you will get out of those primary sources will be mythologies, symbolisms, and snippets of wisdom if you read them without any context. Evola puts things into perspective of the ancient mind and will give these texts depth if you take the ancient mindset and metaphysics into consideration.

I think people are a little exhausted on him, despite only really engaging with his work superficially. Naturally those on the left don't read his work and take his biography reason enough for dismissal, but there was a wave of popularity that coincided with the rise of the alt-right mid last decade. But again that was mostly superficial, waving him like a flag and occasionally pointing a finger to say 'look the right does have intellectuals', but with no meaningful engagement with is works beyond that.
