I'm pretty much just like Oblomov. Independently wealthy, but not rich enough to do whatever I want. Cheerful, but terminally lazy and unmotivated. Married to a woman dedicated to saving me, but is incapable of the impossible task. All I'm waiting for is to die peacefully of heart failure on my couch.

At the end of his life, Rousseau was very neurotic and paranoid. This book is a pretty sad read because you can see that he was a pretty broken person that tried to make himself feel better by trying to convince himself that he was above the world and all his "haters"
