Good books about currency? Like the history or theory behind it.

The Ascent of Money by Niall Fergusson. I haven't read the book though, just watched the documentary, but I really liked it. Keep in mind that Niall is a conservative.

The book flips the entire history of money on it's head. The big broad sweeping stories we are taught in school and by society about 'how things are' are all a bunch of horse shit, and Graeber goes through it all systematically and historically to debunk these traditional notions.

Uh, nice. Added to my list. However, do you have any criticism or warning? The author is an anarchist, idk.

He doesn’t really do a lot of analysis of modern times is the major thing I found lacking. He discusses the drop of the gold standard and then speculates a bit after that. But really, with how long the book was already and the kind of criticism he would get from modern critics, I wouldn’t blame him.

yes, but he's also a trained anthropologist, who has done field work in Madagascar. My only complaint is that he has a section on "Moral Confusion", but doesn't seem to offer any ways out.

Not surprising for an anarchist. It's literally their entire argument against "le authority"
