Did the arguments put forth in his writings make a good case for his final act?

Imagine knowing so much about problem such as the manipulation of all mankind and yet being completely impotent to do anything about it. You can point to it and you can describe it but you can't solve it (he wasn't an accelerationist). Unironically he (as all of us) should've taken the adorno-pill and just be a man about it all.

You communists are all misguided. Maybe Fisher finally broke through and understood that human nature, even the nature of the biological, precludes "equity" or whatever you imagine marxism would bring about. We can't even have love between husband and wife in most cases, you sure we hell can't have a universal system of non-exploitation. It's so fucking ridiculous and his Capitalist Realism seems like an accurate diagnosis of a small fraction of reality. Tunnel vision, but accurate.
Realistically he was probably just mentally ill, no deep philosophical reason for the suicide. Depression leads people to philosophy.

how the fuck does the "nature of the biological" preclude equity? and what has this got to do with marxism??

Being against late capitalism is not being a marxist. You know that, right?
There is a difference between that which is inevitably hard (such as marriage) and unavoidable (such as competition or the will to power in some people) and that which is harder than it should be. Malice and incompetence in positions of power is not natural in any possible way.

I don't think he talked much about the rationality or ontological implications of suicide.
When he did mention it, it was something to the tune of "of course people feel depressed and want to kill themselves in these dismal circumstances," and "the NHS is so cucked by neoliberalism that you literally need to be on the verge of suicide to get any sort of efficient psychiatric help"
He was right about both. Thing is, the dude had a bit of money and a family. He probably could have figured out a private psychiatrist.
It's fucked up when you think about all we lost when he killed himself- certainly would have been the right voice to have around with the last couple years of shitlibs and pandemics. Even more fucked up when you realize he left behind a wife, who probably knew and loved him, and is going to have to deal with the brutal loss forever. Some good friends as well, people really enjoyed hanging out with him and he had a solid network of peers with whom he corresponded not just about academics but about music, movies, sports, whatever.

He did make some good music though, as did other CCRU members.

>Like CCRU prose, the conferences could be challenging for non-initiates. Virtual Futures 96 was advertised as “an anti-disciplinary event” and “a conference in the post-humanities”. One session involved Nick Land “lying on the ground, croaking into a mic”, recalls Robin Mackay, while Mackay played jungle records in the background. “Some people were really appalled by it. They wanted a standard talk. One person in the audience stood up, and said, ‘Some of us are still Marxists, you know.’ And walked out.”
Wish I could have been there.
