An American desperately trying to match the effortless genius of a European with his thesaurus and 2000 ways to describe the same desert scene.

A pretty interesting story. Every reader should experience this book at least once, imo

Of all the things this book is, an "interesting story" it is not.

is this true?
every passage I've read from it seems like it's true
like its something written by an edglord highschool student that keeps looking up thesaurus options for every word in the sentence to sound smart and interesting.

Long, poetic descriptions of landscape interspersed with cowboy dialogue and scenes of extreme violence. Everyone saying this books is pseud or try hard, are in fact pseuds and tryhards themselves

Based, Penta quads confirm. This book is the quintessential anti-zoomer book, you can tell them apart based on their complaints with it.

The book is extremely visceral, I felt like I was actually there.

It took me 6 years to actually read this book. I bought in on a teacher recommendation in high school, then approximately once every six months I would read the first few pages or even get through the first couple chapters. But around thanksgiving last year I actually sat down and made it through. It’s now in my top 3 all time and probably my #1

A cool gimmick that's fun for the first couple chapters but gets boring around page 50.

Suspected he was a pseud when read his word-soup jumble. Was confirmed in my suspicion when I found out he got filtered by Proust.
