I'm too autistic and introverted, m8s. Since graduating with a meme degree two years ago, I've flip-flopped between periods of NEETdom and soul-sucking customer service jobs. Now I'm starting work as a teacher in August, but terrified I'm too socially inept to keep it. Anyone else have trouble finding and holding on to work? I just want to read and write all day.

High school English teacher? It's not very high paying but still, seems /lit/.

And to add on: it is an important job, and my high school English teachers remain some of my most beloved people from that time in my life.

Yeah I took a job I was overqualified for and for a year or so had tons of free time to do whatever and had no stress. Now the company has been sold and i’m doing actual work like 50 hours a week and it makes no sense for me to keep doing this when I could make more money doing this amount of work somewhere else. Or do less work somewhere else for the same money.
But i’m not really interested in doing either and I’m sitting here trying to update my resume thinking “to what end”

Become a security guard. You can get pretty good pay, especially at places like Amazon, and your job is usually to sit in one place all day and do nothing. I did it for a few years and spent 7 hours out of an 8 hour shift reading.

This. Get a job that allows you have free time to read and write and not much social interaction.

Or history teacher. Once you get good at dealing with the bureaucracy, have all the material you need and realize that you can teach whatever you want, it can be a fun job. May even impart some knowledge on the kids. Plus lots of holidays.

Either devote yourself to the Sciences or War, don't waste your time being a pussywhipped ac*demic or even worse, a teacher.
