I liked it as a teenager because there were no Mary Sues, the men were acknowledged to be generally stronger than women, there was no plot armor protecting protagonists and important characters, and just the general themes of power being sort of brutal instead of the "slay queen" or "friendship power" that you usually get. But I stopped reading at book 4 when I realized time skipped forward because I hate it when series do that.
