In a perennial way. I don't want to buy into a specific religion, I just feel disconnected from real life and spirituality. Been coomsooming too much recently, completely void inside

A non-sectarian version of transcendental meditation twice a day for 15-20 minutes each. You will see results within 60-90 days, maybe less.

Look into Herbert Benson if you want a secular interpretation or Acem for just a non-sectarian version. Or go do real TM. It's relatively harmless, they just charge money which is stupid and makes them look bad to people who suspect all such things of being scams.

attend churches, synagogues, mosques, and Buddhist temples
speak with religious people
books are for people already close to god(s), not the path

If you feel the urge, the Spirit is already beginning to work. Just keep the door open.

Honestly read Kierkegaard. Fear and Trembling. Or Islamic authors and Christian theologians like ibn hazim and st. Augustine

Go light something on fire outside, and sit naked and watch it.

In truth, there is no one way to get close to the divine. Only the way you find. I'd recommend getting rid of all intellectual distractions. No internet for a while, being a good place to start. Do lots of manual labor. I've had lots of good thoughts while cording wood.

Beyond that, it's just thinking and acting. Make sure not to restrict yourself unfairly. If you think something will give you some inspiration, try it. Don't let modern ethics scare you out of exploration.

Ok. But believe me, if you find a religion you like, you can throw all of your weight into it and you'll get more out of it. Consider going all in, bro
