Depends on your goals, but I'd argue that German will have more content for a Westerner. Russian is good, but if we're being honest, most people who aren't specialized in Russian won't go beyond Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Pushkin, Gogol, etc.

There's so much greatness in german literature and a lot gets lost in translation (monolingual anglos would have you believe otherwise but this can be dismissed) whereas some of the greatest translations of russian literature are the german ones. the only book that makes it worth it to learn russian is Petersburg

There are so many great authors in Russian and French had been translated into English to an absurd degree. I don’t ever really feel like I’m missing details when I read French translations but I do when I read Russian translations.

Knowing one language is enough. Judging by your post made in English you probably know English. Anything else is unnecessary, you can just use a translating software and by the time you're fluent in a new language (10 years+) we'll have embedded chips that'll translate for you irl
