What are the essentials of Rene Guenon?
In what order should they be read?
Do I have to have any prior knowledge before reading?

Look for the chart on the /lit/ wiki

Many people suggest Introduction to Study of Hindu Doctrine as a starting point but I think if you go in blind, Crisis of the Modern World is great.
And basic familiarity with the major religions/traditions helps but there's hardly any authors as autistically precise as Guenon in explaining what they mean so if you read carefully you'll be fine.

As for essentials, if you ask me
>Crisis of the Modern World
>Reign of Quantity
>Introduction to Hindu Doctrine
>Spiritual Authority & Temporal Power
>Perspecitves on Initiation
>Symbols of Sacred Science
>Man & His Becoming According to Vedanta
Not necessarily in that order but I guess it still works
