Just finished Poor folk. I liked everything about it: story, theme, charcters, style and ending. You can trully see Dostoevsky's talent even in his first novel. I found it funny, that Makar Devushkin is a "SIMP"(its the biggest simp I encountered in literature)
Were such man really that common back than, that Dosto felt the need to write his first novel about them?

P.S. I have also got some book recommendations from this novel.

Poor Folk is a hidden gem. The parts with Makar Devushkin at his job were supposed to be reminiscent of Russia at the time, yet it seems like a lot of those moments can be seen in the modern-day western world. For some reason, the letters remind me of the letters at the start of Frankenstein.
