18065211 No.18065211 [Reply] [Original]

> O believers, prescribed for you is the Fast, even as it was prescribed for those that were before you -- haply you will be godfearing -- for days numbered; and if any of you be sick, or if he be on a journey, then a number of other days; and for those who are able to fast, a redemption by feeding a poor man. Yet better it is for him who volunteers good, and that you should fast is better for you, if you but know; the month of Ramadan, wherein the Koran was sent down to be a guidance to the people, and as clear signs of the Guidance and the Salvation. So let those of you, who are present at the month, fast it; and if any of you be sick, or if he be on a journey, then a number of other days; God desires ease for you, and desires not hardship for you; and that you fulfil the number, and magnify God that He has guided you, and haply you will be thankful.

-Arberry's English meaning of the Qur'an

I see other Muslims browsing here so here are some important reminders for Ramadan

One, block images. If your browser is displaying images, you're acquiring sins for coming here because of the uncovered women. During Ramadan you actually risk spoiling your fast (fulfilling the obligation but losing the major reward) by this. Also angels do not come into houses with images; whether or not you follow fiqh which regards photography as falling under haram images, or halal because it's like a reflection, there are still a lot of pictures here you don't want displaying in your house.

Two, don't argue. Arguing during Ramadan is categorically prohibited and can spoil your fast.

Incorrect. Originally it was a provision for those able to fast but chose not to. Only later was it qualified (by revelation) to only those who cannot. This is in keeping with the usual pattern of revelation of introducing a practice and then making it stricter as people get used to it, for example prohibiting praying while buzzed to later prohibiting all drinking

Onerous Qur'anist. Your "interpretation" isn't as old as Islamic tradition. You are a weak secular creature who worships western society.

Following God’s message and nothing else isn’t an “interpretation”, it’s what God wants us to do.

Nice strawman. Did you post this while drinking camel piss?

It's right. It's to do with the ransoming of days. If you don't fast you can feed poor people instead, there's some rules about it.

You can still end up negating your reward or benefit of forgiveness by that. Even if you don't have to make up the days you can lose the promises of them

I know absolutely nothing of Islam, but assuming it's like the other 2 Abrahamic religions, your sin is nullified when you meet God and accept Him after death.

>> No.18068608

>>18068535
Not how it works in Islam. After death you can be forgiven, or not. Any sin which wasn't repented of or punished by Sharia in this life, it's up to Allah to forgive, or punish it. If he doesn't forgive it a torment is in store, even if temporary it's excruciating
