Sciencefag here, what's the path to German idealism? I know about Kant, Fichte, Schelling, Hegel, Schopenhauer and others, but who are some important ones before them and after Plato? I'm not sure if I should read philosophy from a chronological order or just read some 2nd hand introduction to a specific topic and find my way through it.

My overall inquiry into this is to relate (german) idealism (and its contemporary view on it) to to (phil of) science (Karl Popper) and epistemology and their critiques on each other.

Can someone explain to me how it is in Aristotle that habituation only seems to give rise to virtue through much effort from teaching, laws, society etc. but yet it is also able to give rise to vice?

Have you read any medieval philosophy? They just refer to Aristotle as "the Philosopher".

Philosophy is too broad a topic for a general though. We at least need an /anal/ytic general and a /cunt/inental general.

Whitehead started analytic and he turned into the opposite of an atheist bugmen. I honestly think it comes down to your starting intentions. People who want to become the Last Man will use any field of study to justify it.
