which book should i read for summer studies?

i've been given the choice of Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand
or The Wealth of Nations, by Adam Smith

i'm thinking Atlas Shrugged, it looks a lot more interesting and some of Smith's ideas are just stupid, he seems like kind of a commie to me

Ayn Rand is a fascist. Objectivism is stupid. Atlas Shrugged is an impressive example of making a melodrama with paper-thin characters.

Yes I actually read it.

That's not what I said. But you've done a good job exemplifying the idiocy of Ayn Rand's lackeys.

I said the book was poorly written and that Ayn Rand's philosophy is a load of horse-hockey.

Did you ever consider that Dagny Taggart went to a school, drove on roads, lived in a house, drove in a car, used traffic lights, stopped at stop signs, wasn't murdered by roaming bands of bloodthirsty ne'er-do-wells?

That's because of society. I knew the book had reached its zenith of stupidity when that pirate with the Swedish name shot down the boat with provisions for starving German refugees and this was supposed to be philosophically justified.

There's a difference between being an individual and being a slave to greed. Objectivism isn't so much like Existentialism as it is like LaVeyanism.
