What books do you see someone reading, or see on a bookshelf, or hear someone praising that makes you instantly think they are only interested in it because they think it makes them look intelligent?

Most pomo books by frogs, the same mandatory and pridefully placed 20th c. "social criticism" stack every lukewarm bourgeois is ought to own, a couple recent books that are obviously just riding ephemeral trends, especially so if they are political, a couple books relating to the renaissance and the enlightenment here and there, preferably nothing of the Dark Ages unless it's about science and philosophy in the islamic world, hmm, maybe a colourful collage of modernist bricks written by jews, half-jews, or people married to jews on its own shelf, and, uh, that's all that comes to my mind.
