Why are midwits so obsessed with Camus? Is he just inoffensive and funny-looking enough to appeal to their "depression meme" sensibility? He is a non-entity, means absolutely nothing to me.

okay, ghost of sartre

I don't like Sartre either. He and Camus are the dullest and most derivative existentialists. I literally never think about them at all.

Camus is not an existentialist.

Just because you cannot find le answer does not mean that le answer does not exist. Le meaning of life is entirely subjective. No one can find le meaning for you.

Or in other words the "meaning of life" does not exist, there is only a "meaning of you." Quit making retarded statements.

Le seethe about your inability to find le meaning of life is le essence of le existential philosophy.

He was a hero in the French resistance so as a philosopher he had a lot of notoriety. This is also how Sartre got his fame. So they got a lot of publicity, similar to how certain musicians do in a particular era,and consequently became embedded in popular consciousness

The Nicomachean Ethics completely annihilates every argument Camus makes, so much so that he can't ever have read a word Aristotle wrote.

It's 50/50 he killed himself in that car "accident".
It would make some twisted sense, the man was clearly some form of manic depressive, and he had just gotten the high of his life by dumping his wife and telling Casares they'd finally be together. He died on the drive to her, so it's possible he hit a down on the way there, and just decided to drive into that tree.

Kek, he literally started his philosophical education with the Greeks and Nietzsche. His thesis for his license was on Plotinus. He studied under Jean Grenier. There is absolutely no way he didn't know Aristotle better than 99% of /lit/ anons.
The shit you read on this board.
