Haha, this book was fucking great.

I've heard people drawn comparisons to Dionaea House but I didn't really see similarities apart from them both being about... houses.
What did you guys think? Too pretentious?

Only hipster faggots read and like this shit.

Agreed. Not scary. Over before it began.

>> No.1792789

I thought the book was purposefully trying way too hard to be special when it was actually a pretty mediocre story just with an interesting design to draw in simple-minded people

FUCK YEAH

YOU LIKE SOMETHING THAT'S POPULAR

YOU'RE A FUCKING HIPSTER

I loved it. The entire thing was hilarious, it just heaped shit onto literary wankers, who in turn praised it without realising.

The only book i've found that was similar was the Raw Shark Texts. I wish I had read RST first, because it is like babby's first ergodic/weirdshit and it is clever for the sake of being clever.

But if that Dionaea House is anything like it, even tangentially, I must read it.

>> No.1792795

It's garbage. A try-hard, unforgivable waste of paper and ink.

/lit/ doesn't know how to have fun. It's a fun book, nothing more.

I'm only allowed to have fun when I don my trip and troll mask. Pic related. She looked like that only hotter and less googleyed.

I tried to find something positive to say about this novel and can only come up with: "The cover's nice!" I guess the idea is clever enough, but the gimmicky nature of the text is just overbearing. A friend of mine took one look at the blurbs on the back cover, including one from "writer" Bret Easton Ellis, and told me not to bother. I should have heeded his advice. I found myself ripping through the pretentious bits, the footnotes (my God, the footnotes!), and even the secondary story about the guy who finds the manuscript and is caught up in the horror of it all, to find out what happens with the house itself. Definitely not worth the time and energy. If you like tricky, read Eco, read Borges, read Pavich... but don't live to regret reading this mishmash.

>> No.1792810

not scary
not interesting
not funny

i forced myself through it hoping it would get better, but it's the only book i've read that i actually regret spending time on.

So no life outside of teh internets, eh?

>> No.1792814

It's bad.

The concept of House of Leaves is an interesting one, but the execution is extraordinarily poor. The writing is horrible, the characters are paper-thin, and some of the paraliterary conceits (or whatever they are) are so sophomoric I was actually embarrassed for the writer.

>> No.1793348

OP here.

I see everyone on /lit/ is a pathetic virgin who forgot how to have fun.

Go back to reading Ayn Rand.
