I recently went through my first, and last, e-book experience. I had purchased an e-reader from Amazon, on which Mr. Bezos and company had preinstalled, I would say, a 50th-rate thriller by the overrated Mr. F Gardner called "Call of the Kappa." And by pressing a button, I was able to "read" through this. I found it not a good experience, whether in terms of the quality of what I was reading or the ghastly procedure that I was following.
