I am going on vacation and will only have enough space/time for two. Which should I buy and bring. I'd prefer one play and one novel, and please provide reasons.
Thank you in advance.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - Ken Kesey Waiting for Godot - Samuel Beckett
The Story of Edgar Sawtelle - David Wroblewsk The Zoo Story -Edward Albee

You'll want some cheerful books so I will suggest:

Child of God - Cormac McCarthy
or
The Heart is a Lonely Hunter

Have a good vacation!

long day's journey into night— eugene o'neill
big sur— kerouac

Definitely read One Flew Over rather than Edgar Sawtelle.
Edgar Sawtelle is pretty good, but if you've read Hamlet, you've already read it. It's a good first effort, and I hope the author writes more, but One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is just amazing, and has already proven itself as a classic.
I don't know much about plays, but I've heard good things about Waiting for Godot.
