Why are posts here written so poorly despite being a literature board? There's no difference between the quality of writing on this board and other boards. In fact /fit/ and /int/ write far better. Why is that the case?

Rebecca, don't pretend you didn't write that post. That is exactly your writing style. I have you cornered.

I don't know how long you have been browsing, but the quality of posts on 4chan has gone down on the whole noticably in the last 10 years. Especially in the last few years. Not only on /lit/, but places like /biz/

I don't know is it the zoomers, boomers or doomers, but I also noticed that the length of posts have also gone down considerably. I mean people are barely able to write even few lines of text. Not only the posts are extremely short, they are not intelligent either or showing any more insight.

>> No.17906072

the handful of genuine effortposters got driven off by retarded faggots denouncing anything longer than a paragraph or containing moderately sophisticated language as "schizoposting." theres no real point in typing up anything of quality because ADHD zoomers and lowbrow millennials dont want quality, they want twitteresque bytes fit for easy consumption

Basically this. There's no point in effortposting because you'll either be ignored or all you'll get in response is memes. Not to mention that threads worth effortposting in are rare–this board has really gone down in quality the past couple of months.

>wikipedia is a good resource
Wikipedia and other short articles only give a surface level understanding and consequently shit arguments.
There was an anon in a thread about morals trying to use holofractal theory and string theory wikipedia articles to argue against the existence of god.
Youre a fucking faggot who probably does this if you think wikipedia is a good resource
That anon, of course, didnt understand the irony of his posts, but still attracted discussion from equally retarded anons.
Its sort of funny, watching 2 people, who clearly have no clue what theyre talking about, try to hold a discussion.
Whats not so funny is they attract more retards, and the thread turns into a breeding ground for pseuds.
>>17905839
My guess for the low quality is that anons dont state that fundamental statement of "I do not know", or dont want to say it, so they never seek an answer they can prove themselves. Or they jump to conclusions. So in an effort to seem knowledgeable (a lot of anons here fetishize being an intellectual) they look up quick answers for their quick discussion, which drives down quality. Thats the way it seems to me.
In short, pseuds
Theres still some cool anons around though

there's a fun bit in a dfw essay i read recently where he talks about how snooty children who can't talk like normal fucking plebs are actually lacking in a certain type of vocabulary and their classmates are right to bully them for their inability to master different vernaculars for different social strata

All of 4chan suffers from the problem that anonymity and freedom only works when the entry point is fairly high. It all turned to shit once retards got internetphones and governments figured out how to drown everything in disinfo.
In short, it's just /pol/ shitposters

>Not to mention that threads worth effortposting in are rare
This is the worst part. I'm more than happy to effortpost and only get one or two replies, but now there isn't even the chance to because the threads never exist in the first place. It is always some vague shitty "was author based" or "author was right" thread which it is impossible to start a discussion with. I hate it so much.

As it turns out, just reading does not lend itself to great writing which is an entirely separate skill. I can't say that I'm all that great at articulating myself when it comes to a lot of the regular topics around here. Plus, shitposts and bait naturally get more attention so why put in a lot of effort. That being said, you'll stumble across gems now and then that are worth saving.

I know it's a meme but seriously, all the shitty bait threads will stay up for days at a time while the threads worth actually discussing will be archived with less than ten replies, every time. Not to mention it is very easy for threads to devolve into /pol/ shitslinging.
