Obsession with politics if very much an online trend, mostly kept to places like 4chan and Twitter where things can easily snowball out of control and people are usually at least 50% trolling whenever they say anything.

If you go outside and talk to any random person they'd likely tell you to fuck off because they don't want to deal with politics, especially with strangers. Its only in Twitter where some random troll in their basement can trigger 10000s of people by making a single shitty tweet.
