What is the most disturbing book you have ever read? I have a craving for that feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you force yourself to read through a disturbing scene.
(My vote would be between American Psycho and Child of God)

I thought The Naked Lunch was pretty disturbing.

There was a short one by Peter Straub named "Blue Rose" that bothered me a lot.

Hanged at Auschwitz When he mentions one of the SS pushing one of the prisoners in a tub full of piss and shit, and the prisoner being so weak he just cried there until he died. No one saved him

Fiction, American Psycho, though only for the gore scenes.

Non fiction, Fools Rush In, by Bill Carter. A guy who does charity work in wartime Sarajevo. Not gory, but very powerful, inspiring. It sounds trite, but it convince me that Carter is the best man on the planet for a while.

American Psycho or It by Stephen King (I was 12, it freaked me out, OK?)

>> No.1788618

Okay, what the fuck. I thought American Psycho was really tame. I liked it, but it was not so affecting as people say. Are there just no books that are so well known that top it, or is that shit really supposed to be bad? Because I fapped like three times while I read it. Like when he mentioned raping the waitress in the ski-resort with a can of hairspray.

...So, you weren't disgusted by the scene where he shoved a rabid sewer rat up a prostitute's vagina and lets it gnaw through her insides until he finally chops her in half with a chainsaw and the rat gnaws its way out?

A short story called "A Party Down at the Square" was pretty fucking gross. Made me feel sick. But it's supposed to.

No. I thought it was kind of cool and it made me really appreciate the rat as an element when considered as being all in his mind. I didn't fap to that part or anything, but it was neither disgusting nor disturbing to me.

I really want to know if people legitimately think this novel is that bad. Because I cannot understand it.

I didn't find American Psycho or Child of God all that bad.

The book that probably made me blush was The End of Alice by A.M. Holmes, but only for its graphic depictions of child molestation. Oh, my.

Lord of the Flies

The part where simon departs is disturbing. It is very disturbing. It is very disturbing.
