Does anyone else feel like they have a difficult time truly absorbing the LotR story as it was intended? When I read it, I can really appreciate its atmosphere and feeling, but my mind sort of just glances over all of the physical descriptions. I am unable to really picture the landscapes in my mind, though not from lack of trying. There are lots of segments in the book where its nothing but paragraphs of the characters walking along roads and valleys and dales and the only message my brain gets is "they went from one place to another". I wish I could picture in my head the landscapes he was trying to evoke

Those parts are meant to be comfy, though. I listen to those parts in a audiobook while I lay in my bed, comfiest thing that I have ever done.
