What does it mean that Jesus conquered the cosmos, wouldnt that already be the case from the start since he is God? Or is he saying that he struggled against the world and won and that therefore we should do the same through him?

But Jesus was already God before crucifixion, wouldnt he always been the ruler of the cosmos? What did he mean when he said he conquered it? Like as an example of what his followers should do in their imitation of him (ie giving up on lusts)
