Hey so my brother turns 24 in a few days and I wanna gift him a book, preferably something short and accessible because he usually doesn't read. What would you recommend?

He's kind of a yuppie, or tries to be one it seems.

What we talk about when we talk about love is a good intro to lit imo because Carver's style is so accessible (and duly pleasant)
I'd recommend Mediations of Marcus Aurlies too for a similar reason; though the content can in difficulty from section to section, the format is very accessible (short passages, sometimes lone aphorisms).

I don't really want to intimidate him with non-fic books. I don't think he really likes them even if they fit his ideology. He bought an anthony robbins book once but dropped it at some point. He also bought the autobiography of elon musk years ago but never bothered to even start reading (it's still sealed lol).
I was thinking of some novella that is life affirming. Maybe hermann hesse could be nice.

that seems like a good rec actually, thanks

most of these books are too long or complex. I'd probably get him american psycho if it didn't have 400 pages. He doesn't have that much dedication and I don't want him to feel forced to read a lengthy book just because it's my gift.

Slaughter house five. It’s short. It’s well known. It’s funny. It’s interesting.

Boom. Your retarded brother will still not read it.
