1785853 No.1785853 [Reply] [Original]

So guys, im thinking about getting my greentext stories printed as a collection and sending them to friends, i haven;t looking into the costs yet but i don't imagine it being that much, i even looked into actually binding the book myself and stuff and that seems pretty cheap.

SO
i was wondering some things, i was thinking (JUST THINKING) that maybe i could sell them to you guys on here. BUT I DON'T TAKE ANY MONEY FROM YOU, instead it gets donated to a charity of my choice (probs be something mainstream and not general, like a disease research instead of for a specific building) and then as long as your charitable donation covers shipping costs i can send you the book!

i don't know if you guys would be down for this, i just see it as a good way to raise some money for a charity whilst you guys get my green text stories if you liked them (i'd sign the books or w/e if you guys wanted something cheesy like that)

the only problem i can see is that you guys would have to give me your names and addresses, but you're all Anonymous (most anyway) so i don't think it'd be a problem, but if you're not down for that you can maybe give me a like post office address or something? Or maybe there's some service where basically i send it to them, then they send it to you, so i never get your address, i don't know though.

thoughts?

so to summarise:

>you donate money to a charity that covers shipping costs + voluntary donation
>i ship book to you out of my own pocket
>you have to give me address but we might find a way to work around that
>you get my greentext stories as a book and a charity gets a donation from you
>i receive no payment or profit

i know a lot of people are going to hate on this but it's just an idea and maybe a nice thing to do for a smaller charity, it's up to you guys though, please try not to fill this thread with anti-tripfag stuff, it's just a thought i had

I would just like to point out that that has been done well by people like Donleavy. Not a different woman everyday, mind, because that is the fantasy of a delusional retard. No, just a sad guy past his prime being approached by a woman or women who should be out of his league.

I swear to christ I am getting deja fucking vu. I'm certain we've had this precise argument in another context, and you always use the same cheap, retarded techniques, particularly deliverate misunderstanding and reductio ad absurdium bullshit. You couldn't debate your way out of a wet paper bag, and I weep at the retarded UK education system that churns cunts like you out of the sausage factory "new universities" thinking that they're educated, when all you've been doing for three years is wanking and applying deconstructionist theories to the Teletubbies.

I'm going out in the sunshine, and with your best interests at heart, I suggest you do the same. Who knows, maybe you'll meet a chick who likes Twilight or something, get some inspiration.

>you really think i'm retarded enough to think my greentext stories would be picked up?

No - but you're clearly arrogant enough to think they deserve preservation in some form, so you obviously ascribe worth to them, just as you ascribe worth to what you do on this board, while you are in fact acting like a scared little dog, barking inanely in a darkened room. And bad dogs get put down.

PROTIP: Arguing on this board does not make you intellectually superior. In fact the word intellectual has nothing to do with anything that happens here. I'm prepared to accept that, and leave my ego out of it, hence no trip. You, on the other hand, are a narcissistic boy with delusions of talent. If you were in any way intellectually superior to me, you'd be devoting the time you waste here to something that actually has value.

Go on, I dare you - try something hard, instead of hanging around here getting hand-shandies from your tripfriends.

Pip pip, old thing. It's too nice a day to waste on this shit.

If we ignore you and stop speaking out against you, then that sets a bad example. It says, "here at /lit/, we tolerate shitposters." Other people will see you posting with zero dissent from the other users of the board, and may decide to follow your example. Then we have to ignore more posters.

How many Brownbears will it take for people to start taking action and speaking out? I do not simply ignore things that bother me, and neither should anyone else. My solution is to attempt to reason with you, politely and respectfully. I know you'll ignore me, but I will not ignore you and I won't go away.

>not the content of the posts
I've been looking at the content of your posts since you came here. I like your posts when they're on topic, and you're perfectly capable of making a good contribution to the board.

Stories about your personal life which are at best tangentially related to 'literature' are bad posts. I want you to know that they're objectively bad. I know that other anonymous posters like to put their bullshit on here, but you're attempting to create an online cult of personality based upon your purported personal exploits. This is an inappropriate place to do that. Stop making these threads.

They exist because you make them. As I stated earlier, I do not endorse the obfuscation of observed problematic behaviors.

Neither of us are able to prove what contribution to the board I make, so you'll have to take me at my word when I say I make on-topic posts and 'practice what I preach' in my posting habits.

>my stories are about literature
I do not think that that is true, but I couldn't find any on green-oval.net to substantiate my disagreement. Of the 200 or so posts I browsed through which contained your name, the vast majority of them were other people complaining about your poor posting habits.

>tell her i'm printing it off
>she laughs and touches my hand
>i move it away feeling a bit weird
>she asks me if i'll walk down to her seminar with her
>okay.jpg
>we're going and we're talking about literature
>she says she wants to skip her seminar an we can maybe go for a coffee
>we go for a coffee and start talking about the rime of the ancient mariner
>the conversation turns onto literature
>she doesn't really know anything and keeps agreeing with all i'm saying
>her favourite book is 1984
>she's obviously into kiddie lit and i'm a little embarrassed to be talking to her
>i have to leave and so i tell her
>she writes down her mobile phone number on some paper and gives it to me
>i don't know what to do so smile and say thanks
>when i'm outside throw it away not wanting to be associated with someone who does not have good taste in literature.

pic related, it's an illustration of the rime of the ancient mariner (probably my favourite poem)

No. It's about YOU obtaining the Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

Do you see the distinction?

>> No.1787688

>>1787672
Let's start with a quantitative measurement:

# of lines which are literature related: 2
>Go to the library today to print off Duncan Wu's edition of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner
>her favourite book is 1984
These are related to literature.

# of lines which are about Brownbear: 16
The vast majority of this post and all others like it are off-topic.

Do not make the strawman argument that "well, it contained a book title, and a call to discuss said book, so it's on-topic." Such a small part of the post cannot adequately represent or qualify as on-topic. You could have chosen to say "I enjoy Rime of the Ancient Mariner, let's talk together about it." But, you didn't. Instead expound about the minutiae of your personal life, portraying yourself with arrogance and disrespect.

I'm sure you'll continue to create off-topic threads and use this board to further propagate your internet personality. You'll accuse me of being as hard-headed as I claim that you are, which is false. We both know what you're doing, but it is only I who say that is wrong.

I am alone now, but others will follow in my path of clarity and reason, as opposed to your path of usurping an imageboard to further nurture your own narcissistic compulsions.

See you around, Brownbear

now if you replied to my greentext without discussing the rime of the ancient mariner, you'd be an off-topic shit psoter. As most people in that thread were, if you actually go back to the thread i made recurring attempts to bring the subject of the story BACK to rime of the ancient mariner.

Fucking hell, if you can't put up with a few lines as a relatively amusing preface to a literature discussion then you shouldn't even be on this board. That's all this is. You need to chill the fuck out. TBH, I guarantee a significant majority of anon posters enjoy threads with interesting prefaces rather than just "let's discuss this book", which almost never actually starts an interesting thread, anyway. If an anon posted an interesting intro to a discussion you probably wouldn't bat an eyelid, and would probably even take more interest in the thread.
