>Rather a short life full of deeds and honor rather than a long one without content. Optimism is cowardice.
>t. Spengler

>In truth I tell you that daily visits to museums, libraries, and academies (cemeteries of empty exertion, Calvaries of crucified dreams, registries of aborted beginnings!) are, for artists, as damaging as the prolonged supervision by parents of certain young people drunk with their talent and their ambitious wills. When the future is barred to them, the admirable past may be a solace for the ills of the moribund, the sickly, the prisoner... But we want no part of it, the past, we the young and strong Futurists!
>So let them come, the gay incendiaries with charred fingers! Here they are! Here they are!... Come on! set fire to the library shelves! Turn aside the canals to flood the museums!... Oh, the joy of seeing the glorious old canvases bobbing adrift on those waters, discolored and shredded!... Take up your pickaxes, your axes and hammers and wreck, wreck the venerable cities, pitilessly! The oldest of us is thirty: so we have at least a decade for finishing our work. When we are forty, other younger and stronger men will probably throw us in the wastebasket like useless manuscripts—we want it to happen!
>t. Marinetti

Spengler is a futurist.

Often he was brilliant, often he was questionable, and often he just seems short-sighted.

I'm reading my way through the Decline of the West right now. His methodology is staggeringly precise as he irons out any doubt. I would highly recommend to any trad fans to go through at least some of his work.

>>17830523
Absolutely wrong. He leaned towsrds a monarchist system and disagreed with Hitler's progressive approach as he saw it as too plebian. I'd place him politically closer to late Evola, and Yockey.

>> No.17832355

I'm sure that like most of those right-wing grand narrative thinkers he got everything wrong but nobody has really read them so they think he's right because they assume he just said something about society collapsing and degeneration bad

The correct question to ask is was he ever, once, even in a moment of weakness or sloppy reverie, even for an instant wrong?

So what you fucking nigger.
You glorified death and maybe didn't buy into the progressivism optimism but definitely accepted progressive tendencies as essential to the current state of civilization which is exactly why he told people to become aeroplane engineers, colonial governors, etc.
Spengler was highly poetic, at least in his influences.
All of this implies he would have toward Futurism and is also the reason why he lauded he Mussolini fascist, who were directly influenced by Futurists. Evola, Guenon, Yockey come all to late for Spengler who wrote his Magnum Opus in the 1910's.
