If it really is just placebo its one that seems to have helped a good deal of people become less depressed.
Reading him wasn't what got me out of depression,
But if it works for others I fail to se the point in calling it "snake oil"

If you actually read his first book you can see his justifications for his rules are actual garbage.
I enjoyed many of his lectures but actually reading that book made me lose a lot of respect for his perspective on things
