We all know incel is combination of "involuntarily" and "celibate". But we've seen this word take on other formulations such as /pol/cel, /int/cel, femcel, dyelcel, heightcel, dickcel, ricecel, bookcel, etc. Where at that point the new words are no longer a mash up of some other word and "celibate". Rather we've taken the negative connotation of incel, the use of incel as an insult, and misapplied the "cel" to another word to turn it into an insult. The misapplication recalls the word incel and its negative connotations, but the new word loses the inherent meaning of the mashup "incel". So what kind of language degeneration is this? Where language evolves, but the word formulation no longer makes sense. Words entirely built out of connotation.

It's just the natural evolution of language. Over time, you can expect the most extreme variants to be trimmed off and forgotten. The most popular words will remain. Then, eventually, creators will weave the remaining words into great works of art, thus giving the formerly degenerate words a basis in cultural canon. At that point, no one will care if the word is linguistically or semantically coherent. It will only matter that the word is active, understandable, and culturally-canonized.
