Is imagining shit while read a meme?
I dont imagine shit when I read.
Is this a sign I'm retarded or do people just meme about ""VIVID DESCRIPTIONS"" in books

you might be suffering from the mental retardation of aphantasia

Huxley didn't visualize.
It doesn't necessarily mean you're retarded, you just absorb information differently.
I've never been on the other side, so I can't comment on the difference between visualizing and not visualizing, but for me the movie that plays in my head only adds to the book, so, probably stiff shit for you.

The most “vivid” descriptions in literature are never the product of direct address, but rather derived almost syllogistically.
Scene descriptions are like the decorations on a roller coaster that let you know it’s pirate themed. The actual “vivid” shit gets filled in by the reader. It doesn’t always happen. It’s not supposed to happen the whole time, but some images should smear themselves on your memory if we’re talking about literature.

I sometimes get reminded (for some undeterminable reason) of some place/scenery/scene from a book and then I feel the urge to find out which book it was. It's similar to having a muscial phrase/melody stuck in your head.
For me, however, too explicit/detailed descriptions kill this imagining, since my brain can't work with such rigorous orders, it needs to be vague or between the lines.

This. I can't stand overly detailed descriptions , especially of background superfluous imagery. It's already been filled in by my mind.

It's this and shit that doesn't exist that I cant imagine. For example, I would have a brain aneurism if I tried reading star wars before watching it, and then comparing the two images.

I can imagine and view scenes mentally when I read but I don't really find it useful or helpful most of the time so don't do it. It rarely improves my enjoyment of a work

Just do what I do: imagine whatever you want, completely ignoring visual descriptions of things. All I bother with picking up from the text are the general actions and words spoken in the plot so that I can construct my own scenes. Characters and scenes look and pose the way I want them to at all times.
