Historically, they might be just as important, but from a political standpoint, it is important to to have a general idea of the most influential (mainstream) historical processes before diving into the political and social importance of Zapata and Villa. Another way of putting it would be that it is important to see the whole picture (or from afar) before focusing on a particular aspect of it (the agrarian/peasant movement), otherwise you might get lost in the details.
